You walk with it, you climb beyond it, but you can never truly walk away from it: because it is your reality. Ultimately, you are alone inside of it. It is a dark tumultuous tormenting storm and you are constantly trying to fight your way back to the light, to comfort. You are different in a world that worships sameness. And you don’t want to be different anymore. You don’t want to be in pain anymore. But it is now your history. It has become your destiny. One moment in time, one aberration, can change your life, your direction, your purpose, forever. One slip and fall, precipitated by a workman tracking ice into your workspace on a beautiful snowy day, can change you life in the blink of an eye, eclipse your dreams and take you on a journey through hell, torment, discrimination, discovery, repair, and triumph that you never imagined. This is my story of the horror of living with autonomic injury, and the change that can evolve from an unfair and terrible twist of fate.

This is a medical and legal site about catastrophic, permanent, total injury and atypical medical conditions: my journey for medical equity. I seek to generate discussion, expose gross systemic bias and inaction, promote acceptance and normalization, and trigger reform. This is for all of those people who do not fit the norm, and are being judged, abused, persecuted, oppressed or victimized for being different in a system biased towards sameness.

I received a decision from the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division terminating my challenge of Chubb’s withdrawal of medical authorization (reasonable accommodation) and of a compulsory New York State Medical Treatment Guidelines law, without response to the medical arguments for my catastrophic, life-threatening workers’ compensation injury. I lost my appeal as a pro se on technicalities.
